EAT IN OR TAKEAWAY

New cafes and restaurants seemed to be appearing in suburbs all over Melbourne. There is a vast range of cuisines to choose from as well as a variety of beautifully designed interiors and exteriors to match. We are blessed with so many, and here are some great cafes to visit.

Half Acre located in an unassuming old fabric mill in the suburb of South Melbourne, inspired by New York eateries with its exposed bricks, high ceilings, detailed roof rafters and sumptuous menu was designed by co-owner Adam Wright-Smith.

Au79 (the chemical element symbol for Gold) in Abbotsford, on the outskirts of Melbourne's CBD, is a cafe, coffee roaster, chocolatier, patisserie and event space. What use to be a local garage and repair shop is now a vibrant hospitality space that has a Gold Standard in all that this cafe produces, with architecture and interiors by Mim Design.

Mercedes Me concept store in the heart of the city of Melbourne, at 525 Collins Street, is located at street level of the newly renovated Rialto Towers. Designed by Jackson Clements Burrows Architects, the space has two levels, with the lower level incorporating a Mercedes vehicle on display, that changes regularly from vintage to newer models. The space also hosts events and industry talks, and has a bank of video screens for visual optimisation of the area.
